Man imprisoned by Ikeja Court after fatally stabbing woman

A judge in Ikeja, Nigeria, handed down a 21-year prison term to Vincent Edeh on Friday for his role in the fatal stabbing of a woman.

Edeh faced a charge of involuntary manslaughter for this incident.

Justice Oyindamola Ogala, who presided over the case, accepted Edeh’s guilty plea to involuntary manslaughter and sentenced him to a 21-year jail term.

The court decided that Edeh’s incarceration will begin on July 6, 2020, the date he had been detained since.

The State’s Attorney, Mrs. Abike Oluwasanmi, had earlier informed the court that the crime was perpetrated by Edeh on July 6, 2020 at No.14, Nwobodo Eze St., Ajao Estate, Isolo, Lagos.

She said that Edeh stabbed one Oghechi Umunnakwe to death over an unsolved quarrel.

According to her, the act was illegal because it violated the Lagos State Criminal Laws of 2015.

Oluwasanmi also informed the court of the defence’s plea bargain proposal for Edeh, which recommended a sentence of 21 years in prison and was dated March 21.
