Oluwafemi Ogunleye, a 28-year-old man, has been arraigned by the police in Lagos State on Monday at a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court for theft.
Oluwafemi, whose address is unknown, is facing a one-count charge of stealing.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty.
ASP Clement Okuoimose, the prosecutor, informed the court that the defendant had committed the offence on Sept. 4, at 6:30 p.m, at Kilometre 42, Lagos/Badagry Expressway.
The prosecutor said that the defendant stole one electric motor for a power generator, a three-inch galvanized pipe and a 17-inch television monitor.
He said that the stolen items were worth N360,000, N10,000 and N25,000, respectively.
“Other items stolen by the defendant are aluminium roofing sheets valued at N21,000, and one standing fan valued at N10,000,” the prosecutor added.
He said that the items belonged to one Mr Kolapo Sofoluwe.
According to him, the offence contravenes Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Fadahunsi Adefioye, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in the like sum.
Adefioye adjourned the case until Oct. 19, 2022, for mention.
