Dr. Chibuki Aigbe, The Practice Manager of One Wellness Centre, says the fertility clinic is ready to increase the success rate of In vitro fertilization (IVF) in the country.
Aigbe made this known at a breakfast session organized by the centre with its fertility specialists and unveiling of its facility in Lagos.
IVF is a complex series of procedures used to aid fertility or prevent genetic problems and assist with the conception of a child.
The manager said the centre offered services to patients in gynaecology and assisted reproductive technology.
She said: “When we did our feasibility study, we realized that there were less than 30 IVF centres. We also find out that it’s just about one that has the newest technology as at when this study was carried out so we decided to go into this and raise the bar.
“We realized that the success rate was between 30 and 60 per cent. I can say that with the capacity we have and the investment we have done, we can raise the success percentage to 60.″
Aigbe added that the establishment of the centre was initiated to reduce medical tourism to Nigerians who are in need of quality fertility treatment.
“A lot of people have the habit of visiting other countries for healthcare services. Our specialists and embryologists are trained, certified, and experienced globally. So, we decided to come up with something that is of global health standard and also at a very reasonable price for patients,” she said.
