A Federal High Court for Abuja has thrown out a suit filed by the Federal Government of Nigeria to extradite the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, to the United States of America.
In a ruling on Monday, Justice Inyang Ekwo struck out the suit filed by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, because the application lacked merit.
The Nigeria government had tried to send Kyari to the U.S. to answer a case over his alleged link with Ramon Abbas, aka Hushpuppi, an alleged internet fraudster that is currently in US prison.
Kyari and six others currently face a separate trial on allegations bordering on drug trafficking before a sister court.
It is not known if the Federal Government will appeal the judgement.
