Money-in-the-boot fraudster nabbed in Lagos

A supposed kabukabu driver who boasts of money in his boot while duping his passengers is in hot soup.

Officers of the Ipakodo division of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested one Emmanuel Rolland ‘m’ aged 34 for allegedly duping unsuspecting passengers.

In a statement issued by police spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the suspect was said to have been arrested at about 11.20 a.m. on Friday, July 29, 2022, along Ipakodo road after a victim of his raised an alarm.

A police investigation revealed that the suspect, alongside his conspirators (still at large) while operating in a Volkswagen Jetta saloon car, with registration number JJJ 27 DG, disguised as driver and passengers, picking unsuspecting passengers, and discussing some money purportedly kept in the boot before duping them.

The suspect confessed to having started this crime in January, adding that he was arrested on his sixth outing.

The statement said efforts were in top gear to arrest other fleeing members of the gang and other perpetrators of such crime.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi has directed that the case be transferred to the headquarters for further investigations and prosecution.
