It is D-Day for the Thrillerbandz@Theatre musical concert when 50 live bands will go on stage in one night at the National Theatre, Lagos.
Holding from Friday, Dec. 17 to Saturday, Dec. 18, the organisers, Evergreen Music Company, say that “not less than 50 live bands are expected to showcase their musical appeal to thrill, pleasure and dazzle the audience and African music aficionados in a relaxed environment with unique ambience, colourful lightings, savoury culinary delights and drinks.”
The judges at the event will be Yinka Davies, Stella Monye, and Dayo Kujore.
Yinka Davies has been a judge at different music contests including the popular Nigerian Idol music reality show. Davies is an all-rounder artist who have shown outstanding skills and performances in music, theatre, choreography, and backup vocals.
Samba Queen Stella Monye is a veteran. Her song Oko Mi Ye has contributed immensely to the entertainment industry and not too long ago she organised about 104 Choral Voices from Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education Music Department to celebrate 56 years birthday of His Excellency Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at an event held in Lagos.
Soko Music Exponent Dayo Kujore, a veteran Juju musician, has been in the music industry for over 40 years. He learnt under Prince Adekunle in the ’70s as a lead guitar player before forming his own band.
Also expected to grace the music contest are other young and veteran artists. Veteran Music Producer Laolu Akins will be giving a few minutes of mentorship talk to the participating artists to boost their morale. Laolu Akins is a musician and was a member of the popular Pop group BLO. He was also the producer and brain behind the Evergreen song of Adewale Ayuba (Bubble) and (Ace) by Sir Shina Peters.
The ThrillerBandz event no doubt will be funfilled as it will be held in a relaxed environment with unique ambience, colourful lightings, maximum security and under strict Covid 19 compliance.
