For allegedly attacking the Moserekogo community and causing malicious damage to various properties, a 38-year-old man, Fatai Oniwaya, on Tuesday, appeared before Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
But Oniwaya pleaded not guilty to a three-count charge of conspiracy, malicious damage and assault.
According to the prosecutor, ASP Rita Momah, the defendant committed the offences with some others still at large on 4th February 2021, at Moserekogo Community, Makoko, Lagos.
Momah told the court that the defendant and his accomplices armed with dangerous weapons, attacked residents of the community.
“The defendant inflicted injuries on Mr Dauda Eletu, causing him various bodily harm,” she said.
She told the court that the said offences contravened Sections 168, 173 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The accused were then granted bail by the Chief Magistrate, Mrs Adeola Adedayo, in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned until Sept. 7 for mention.
