Lagos recorded a leap of 22 COVID-19 deaths in December

Reported 7,420 new cases in the same period

The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi has revealed that the state experienced a leap in COVID-19 deaths from six in November to 22 in December 2020.

In a tweet he released on Sunday, he said that during the same period new confirmed cases rose from 2,172 to 7,420 in the same period.

Professor Abayomi warned that COVID-19 was “raging like a wild fire”.

He advised citizens to #maskup, observe #socialdistancing and #stay home in order to arrest the surge.

With Sunday’s report of 653 new COVID-19 infections and one death in Lagos, January 2021, has already seen a spike of 5,913 new cases and ten deaths; thus, surpassing the December 2020 rise in new cases.
