Lagos fresh COVID19 infections balloon by 345

After an unprecedented high of 3,756 fresh tests on Wednesday, Lagos on Thursday reported its own all time high fresh COVID19 infections of 345.

According to the latest report from the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Lagos now has a total of 6,611 confirmed COVID19 cases.

Of these, 5,532 are still active, while 82 persons have died from COVID19 related complications.

There are no official explanations for the spike other than the fact that tests have been ramped up.

The NCDC announced on Thursday that there were 681 new confirmed cases and 5 deaths were recorded in Nigeria with no new state reporting a case in 24 hours.

So far, 14,554 cases have been confirmed nationwide, 4,494 cases have been discharged and 387 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory

The 681 new cases are reported from 17 states- Lagos(345), Rivers(51), Ogun(48), Gombe(47), Oyo(36), Imo(31), Delta(28), Kano(23), Bauchi(18), Edo(12), Katsina(12), Kaduna(9), Anambra( 7), Jigawa(5), Kebbi(4), Ondo(4), Nasarawa(1).
