It seems there is respite for Lagos as the number of new COVID19 cases dropped on Thursday to 102 in spite of the fact that the country recorded its highest number of tests on a single day.
The country recorded 1,535 tests on Wednesday bringing the total number of tests nationwide so far to 71,336.
On Thursday, the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced that there were 350 new confirmed cases and 8 deaths recorded in Nigeria.
No new state reported within 24 hours.
Lagos now has 5,542 total confirmed COVID19 cases, 4,573 of which are still active while there have been 67 deaths
Across Nigeria so far, 11516 cases have been confirmed, 3535 cases have been discharged and 323 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The 350 new cases are reported from 20 states – Lagos (102), Ogun (34), FCT (29), Borno (26), Kaduna (23), Rivers (21), Kwara (16), Ebonyi (17), Katsina (14), Edo (10), Delta (10), Kano (10), Bauchi (10), Bayelsa (9), Imo (8), Plateau (4), Ondo (3), Nasarawa (2), Gombe (1), Oyo (1)
Earlier on Thursday, the Lagos State Government said 24 additional coronavirus patients had recovered and had been discharged from isolation centres across the state, having tested negative twice to the virus.
Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu said in a statement on Thursday that a total of 952 patients had now been discharged from the isolation centres.
”Good people of Lagos State, today, 24 more COVID-19 patients fully recovered.
“Fifteen males and nine females –all Nigerians were discharged from the Onikan, Gbagada, Agidingbi and Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) isolation facilities to reunite with society.
”The patients, four from Onikan, one from Gbagada, one from Agidingbi and 18 from LUTH isolation centres were discharged having fully recovered and tested negative to COVID-19.
”With this, the number of COVID-19 confirmed cases that have been successfully managed and discharged in Lagos State has risen to 952,” the governor said.
