Lagos peaks again with 254 new COVID19 cases, discharges 29

On a day that only two COVID19 deaths were recorded nationwide, Lagos notched yet again its highest single day record of 254 new COVID19 cases.

Though there are no figures on testing for Lagos, it may appear that the new cases came out of the 1038 tests reported nationwide for Thursday.

Lagos now has 4,377 confirmed cases, 3,585 of which are active.

According to the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), 387 new confirmed cases and 2 deaths were recorded in Nigeria on Friday.

No new state has reported a case for the day.

Till date, 9302 cases have been confirmed nationwide, 2697 cases of which have been discharged, while 261 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The 387 new cases are reported from 14 states- Lagos(254), FCT(29), Jigawa(24), Edo(22), Oyo(15), Rivers(14),Kaduna(11), Borno(6), Kano(3), Plateau(2), Yobe(2), Gombe(2), Bauchi(2), Ondo(1).

58,726 tests have been carried out nationwide till date.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Government says 29 additional coronavirus patients, comprising two Indians and 27 Nigerians have been discharged from its isolation centres.

Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu made the announcement in a statement on Friday.

He said that a total of 854 patients had now been discharged in the state.

”Today (Friday) 29 COVID-19 Lagos patients; 24 males and 5 females, including two Indians were discharged from our Gbagada, Lekki and Agidingbi isolation facilities to reunite with the society.

”The patients, 20 from Gbagada, 6 from Lekki and 3 from Agidingbi Isolation Centres were discharged, having fully recovered and tested negative to COVID-19.

”With this, the number of COVID-19 confirmed cases that have been successfully managed and discharged in Lagos is now 854,” Sanwo-Olu said. (NAN)
