The management of Kano Pillars Football Club has issued an appeal to the Nigeria Professional Football League Disciplinary Committee to reconsider the N12 million fine imposed on the team for alleged misconduct.
In a statement by the club’s secretary, Sani Ibrahim, the incident occurred during the week 17 match against Plateau United at Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano. Thugs disrupted the live broadcast and threw objects onto the pitch in protest against the match official’s decision.
“We condemn the act in its entirety and urge the committee to approach this complex issue with calmness and impartiality,” the statement read, emphasizing the need for a balanced perspective considering human fallibility.
The club highlighted the efforts to promote sportsmanship among supporters and lamented how the actions of a few disrupted the team’s positive momentum in the ongoing League. They expressed dismay that such behavior could jeopardize the club’s reputation and the integrity of Sani Abacha Stadium.
Additionally, the club management pledged collective efforts with the Fans club leadership to maintain the team’s esteemed position among Nigerian football clubs. They also apologized for the conduct of “a few who posed as supporters to commit the act.”
