The 2023 Greater Lagos Fiesta has commenced across the city’s divisions, drawing massive crowds in Epe, Agege, Ikorodu, and Badagry. Omowunmi Seriki, Director of Public Affairs at the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, affirmed the event’s impressive start, running from Dec. 29 to Jan. 1, 2024.
Chairman Solomon Bonu of the Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, praised the event’s turnout in Badagry, highlighting Governor Sanwo-Olu’s approval to unite the city’s youth for entertainment and leisure. “This fiesta offers a chance for local talents, comedians, and artists to shine,” Bonu emphasised.
He highlighted, “The Greater Lagos Fiesta is not just about musical brilliance; it’s a celebration of Lagos’ rich cultural heritage. From traditional dances to vibrant art displays, it’s an immersion in our residents’ cultural legacy.”
In Ikorodu, Council Chairman Sesan Daisi inaugurated the show on behalf of Governor Sanwo-Olu, assuring residents of increased developmental projects in 2024. He hailed the fiesta as a significant tribute to culture, music, and entertainment, teasing performances by rising stars and acclaimed artists like Davido, Kizz Daniel, Flavour, Olamide, Teni, Mayorkun, and more.
Various divisions witnessed diverse activities, from face painting and dancing competitions at the Agege Stadium to live performances by the Lagos State Council for Arts and Culture and local talents in Epe. The fiesta, a melting pot of musical genres, ensures an unforgettable experience for music aficionados.
