Enyimba Football Club of Aba finalised an initial ₦100m agreement with United Nigeria Airlines, marking a significant sponsorship milestone for the club over the next two years.
At the ceremony in Enugu, Nwankwo Kanu, Enyimba FC’s Chairman, known as Papilo, he conveyed his delight regarding the deal, emphasising the club’s role in uniting communities.
“Today is special as Enyimba FC celebrates 24 years. We deeply appreciate this sponsorship for the people of Abia State, Gov. Alex Otti, our staff, the club, and the league,” said Kanu, acknowledging the significance of United Nigeria Airlines’s support in fostering unity through football.
Highlighting the airline’s contribution to Enyimba’s growth, Kanu emphasised the potential for other airlines to aid Nigerian football development. “Enyimba, among Africa’s premier clubs, is witnessing positive changes. Despite the challenges, today marks a step towards reclaiming the top spot,” he affirmed.
Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, Chairman of United Nigeria Airline, earlier stressed their commitment to uniting Nigerians through their aviation mantra. “Football is a unifying force transcending tribe, race, or state. We’re proud to partner with Papilo,” he remarked on the airline’s social responsibility.
Congratulating Kanu on his Enyimba appointment, Okonkwo expressed confidence: “Under this agreement, you will succeed.” He commended Gov. Otti for aptly placing Kanu in his new role, noting the alignment of the right person with the right position.
