The Lagos State Government has stated that it will oppose the exhumation of the 12-year-old Miss Whitney Adeniran’s body, who died in February while participating in inter-house activities at Chrisland Schools in Opebi, Lagos.
The administration revealed the information in a statement issued on Saturday in Lagos and signed by Ms. Grace Alo, the state’s director of public affairs.
The administration said that an ongoing discussion over an alleged plan to exhume the student’s body was known to the Ministry of Justice.
The ministry, according to the statement, had not yet received any official communication demanding the exhumation.
If and when such a request is made, the administration has stated that it will reject it.

The student’s death was caused by hypoxia and electrocution, according to a post-mortem report released by the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital on March 1.
The incident happened on February 9 at Agege Stadium in Lagos State, during inter-house competition for Chrisland Schools.
A breathing disorder called asphyxia happens when the body doesn’t get enough oxygen.
