The Professional E-hailing Drivers and Private Owners Association (PEDPA) says the new regulation on ride sharing operations in Lagos would help instill sanity in the state’s public transport sector.
Mr Idris Shonuga, National President of PEDPA), said this during a training and awareness programme for e-hailing operators on Wednesday in Lagos.
He said that e-hailing was a welcome innovation which has moved the transportation industry forward and urged the operators to have a collective agreement to secure businesses on the platform.
“The regulation is all about proper profiling of those who are handling transportation services under technology such as Uber, my Cab and bolt services.
“The regulation will curb loss of lives and property and irregularities within the e-hailing transportation business in the country,” Shonuga said.
He commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for initiating a regulation that would vet and profile drivers and riders’ information.
He appealed to private owner-partners to cooperate and embrace the new regulation on e-hailing business to reposition the industry for effective service delivery.
Also speaking, FEDPA General Secretary, Mrs Titilayo Ajani, advised members to unite in order defend and liberate themselves from other e-hailing organisations who were not concerned about the owners’ welfare and well-being of their cars.
Tunji Abdul-Hameed, representative of private owners-partner, urged all players in the industry to embrace the new regulations by the Lagos State Government to reinvigorate private owners who invested in the business and those still planning to join. (NAN)
