The Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) has unveiled the nominees for its highly anticipated 2025 edition, celebrating excellence in African film, television, and digital content. The announcement, broadcast on March 23, 2025, across Africa Magic channels, has sparked excitement among fans and industry stakeholders alike.

This year’s AMVCA, now in its 11th edition, continues to honor outstanding achievements in storytelling, acting, directing, and production. The awards recognise works released between January 1 and December 31, 2024, showcasing the depth and diversity of African creativity.

Highlights of the Nominations:

  1. Top Contenders: Films such as Lisabi: The Uprising, Skeleton Coast, House of Ga’a, and Freedom Way have secured multiple nominations across categories like Best Movie and Best Director.
  2. Acting Categories: The Best Lead Actor category features nominees like Adedimeji Lateef (Lisabi: The Uprising), Femi Adebayo (Seven Doors), and Stan Nze (Suspicion). For Best Lead Actress, Chioma Chukwuka (Seven Doors), Bimbo Ademoye (Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre), and Uche Montana (Thinline) are among the prominent names.
  3. Diverse Categories: The awards span 28 categories, including Best Indigenous Language Film, Best Digital Content Creator, and Best Short Film, reflecting the rich tapestry of African storytelling.
