A devastating fire has gutted the Oko Baba plank market in the Ebute Metta area of Lagos State. The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) are currently attending to the fire outbreak.
An X user, Adedeji Olalekan, shared updates on the incident, tweeting, “Okobaba Street is on fire now, all the shanties are burning”. The fire reportedly affected the shanties within the market, causing significant damage.
Confirming the incident, LASEMA’s spokesperson, Nosa Okunbor, stated, “LASEMA Response Team, LRU Fire Unit, and Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service are in search and rescue operation at Oko Baba plank market by Ibadan Street, Ebute Metta”.
