In a move to facilitate construction work along Bourdillon Road, Ikoyi, the Lagos State Government has announced a traffic diversion scheduled for Saturday, 24th August, and Sunday, 25th August, 2024. The closure will occur from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday and from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon on Sunday, as part of the ongoing infrastructure upgrade in the area.
To minimise disruption, an alternative route has been mapped out for motorists affected by the diversion. Those traveling on Bourdillon Road towards Falomo Roundabout are advised to turn right at Lateef Jakande Road, continue to Onisiwo inwards Oniru Road, then link Thompson Avenue Roundabout into Thompson Avenue, and finally, make a right turn back into Bourdillon to resume their journeys.
However, motorists on the lane inbound Alexander Avenue from Falomo Roundabout will not be affected by the diversion. The Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, reassured the public, stating, “We have ensured that this diversion is well-managed by our Traffic Management Personnel to minimise inconvenience. We urge all motorists to cooperate with the interventions put in place.”
Mr. Osiyemi also emphasised the importance of patience during this period, noting that “this diversion is part of our broader traffic management strategy to ensure the safety of motorists during the construction work.”
