Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has urged citizens to unite and seek solutions rather than engage in a blame game over the nation’s current economic difficulties. Speaking at the 25th State House Ramadan Tafseer Anniversary Prayer, Sanwo-Olu, represented by Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, emphasised the need for collective action and patriotism.
“The challenges we face are daunting, but they call for us to come together, to be patriotic, and to work towards the greater good of our nation,” Sanwo-Olu stated. He acknowledged the global recession’s role in the hardships faced by Nigerians and called for a return to the charitable and communal African way of life.
Echoing the governor’s sentiments, former Commissioner for Home Affairs, Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro, encouraged Nigerians to use the holy month of Ramadan as a time to pray for the country’s prosperity. “Our faith teaches us to treat others as we wish to be treated, and it’s crucial that our actions reflect this principle,” Obanikoro added.
Commissioner for Home Affairs, Mr. Olanrewaju Layode, highlighted the Tafseer’s role in fostering dialogue and solutions for national prosperity. “The teachings of the Quran offer many solutions, and I urge everyone, Muslims and non-Muslims alike, to pray for our leaders,” Layode said.
