Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, delivered a powerful message to women, urging them to “break down barriers that limit our progress, challenge stereotypes, and foster an environment of equal opportunity for all.” She emphasised the importance of education, healthcare, economic empowerment, and gender equity, stating that these are “essential pillars that will enable us to unleash our potential.”
Tinubu also stressed that women’s potential extends beyond personal success, as it significantly impacts their families, communities, and the nation as a whole, noting that “when women are empowered, society thrives.” She encouraged all attendees to “embrace the theme of this conference, ‘Unleash Your Potential,’ not only for your benefit but for your individual States and the benefit of our beloved Nation.”
Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, the Chairperson of COWLSO, echoed the theme of the conference, urging women to “take risks, face their fears, and push past their comfort zones.” She encouraged women to “Unleash their Potential” and discover their true capabilities, emphasizing the importance of courage in this journey: “You plan to rob the world of its treasures if you decide to die with your potential undeveloped and unutilized.”
In the spirit of encouraging women to seek help when faced with difficulties, Nigeria’s First Lady recognised the unique challenges women encounter in various endeavours, affirming that they should be ready to seek assistance on their path to achieving their goals.
