The Monitoring, Enforcement, and Compliance Department of the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources (MOE&WR) initiated the demolition of illegal structures along the Gbagada-Oshodi Expressway on Sunday. This action, carried out under the directives of the Commissioner for the MOE & WR, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, addresses the conversion of these structures into living spaces and storage facilities for street vendors.
Adekunle Adeshina, Director of Public Affairs at the ministry, shared this update on his social media platform. The illegal structures, which were encroaching upon the highway setback along the Gbagada-Oshodi Expressway near the Transmission Company of Nigeria, have long been a concern for authorities.
The MOE has been actively engaged in a campaign to remove illegal structures, particularly those obstructing the free flow of water in drainage and canal pathways. This move is part of the government’s broader efforts to ensure the safety and functionality of public spaces.
