In its ongoing commitment to educate 10,000 children on disability awareness and empower child amputees with prosthetic limbs, The IREDE Foundation joined forces with CFAO Yamaha Motors to spread the message of disability inclusion at Isolo Senior High School in Lagos State on October 4, 2023.
This endeavour, born out of the necessity to provide child amputees with the means to live independent and boundless lives while simultaneously fostering an understanding of disability among the youth to mitigate bullying and stigmatisation, garnered an enthusiastic response from the school’s students.
In addition to engaging in conversations centred on disability awareness with the students, the Foundation also distributed the disability-themed comic book “IREDIANS” to the school’s young learners.
The programme received accolades from both the school’s teachers and the staff of CFAO Yamaha Motors in attendance. The Foundation extends its sincere gratitude to the unwavering support of the Lagos State Ministry of Education, education school districts, and school administrators, all of whom played a pivotal role in the project’s successful execution.
This year, the IREDE Foundation has reached out to more than 20 government schools in Lagos State, delivering the message of disability awareness. The Foundation takes this opportunity to advocate for an inclusive learning environment in all schools, ensuring that the number of out-of-school children due to disability is minimised to the greatest extent possible.
