LASEPA reaffirms strong commitment to environmental enforcement in Lagos

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has reasserted its unwavering dedication to enforcing environmental regulations throughout the state. The agency has declared its intention to take a firm stance, particularly against persistent polluters, in order to safeguard the environment.

Mr. Kayode Bello, the Director,Enforcement, LASEPA, made this announcement in a statement released on Sunday. He emphasised that protecting the environment is not merely a moral duty but an urgent necessity for the well-being of current and future generations.

Bello stated, “Our commitment to environmental enforcement is unwavering. We will spare no effort in holding those who pollute our environment for personal gain accountable. We firmly believe that rigorous enforcement of environmental laws and regulations is a crucial step in addressing pressing environmental issues, deterring future violations, and ensuring the rights of innocent residents to a cleaner and more friendly environment.”

The Director highlighted that this renewed commitment to environmental sustainability aligns with the vision of Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner for the Environment, who is dedicated to promoting a healthier environment and a higher quality of life for the people of Lagos.

Bello expressed his readiness to collaborate with other government agencies, local communities, and environmental stakeholders to enhance collective efforts in preserving our shared planet. He assured the public that the agency would conduct extensive advocacy campaigns to educate citizens on the importance of environmental protection and the consequences of environmental violations.
