Isolo Local Council Development Area joins forces with NDLEA to combat drug abuse

Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State has forged a crucial partnership with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to combat drug abuse prevalent in various communities within its jurisdiction.

The Executive Chairman of the Council, Mr. Adebayo Olasoju, made this announcement during a meeting with the newly appointed Mushin Area Commander of NDLEA, Mr. Roland Owonifari, held in Isolo.

Olasoju emphasised the pressing need to minimise the global scourge of drug abuse, stressing that cooperation between residents and law enforcement agencies is paramount in achieving this goal.

“As a government, it is our responsibility to consistently support the efforts of agencies such as yours in this battle,” remarked Olasoju.

He underscored the council’s commitment to creating a drug-free Isolo LCDA, aligning it with the overarching vision of an ideal “Isolo of our dream.”

“While drug abuse is a worldwide problem,” Olasoju stated, “it can be significantly reduced, if not entirely eradicated, through collaboration and concerted efforts.”

Olasoju acknowledged that many young individuals fall victim to drug addiction due to factors such as ignorance and peer pressure. He asserted that through continuous advocacy, awareness campaigns, and practical interventions, these individuals could be transformed into exemplary members of society.

The chairman also highlighted the council’s support for the Police Anti-Cultism Squad, which has yielded positive results in recent times. He expressed optimism that tackling the drug menace would prove equally successful with the council’s support.

Owonifari called upon the council and the entire community to collaborate closely in the fight against drug abuse, emphasising the importance of collective action to combat this pressing issue.
