Lagos State Government urges students and teachers to work hard

The Lagos State Government has called upon its students and educators to reciprocate the government’s unwavering dedication and enthusiasm for educational development with hard work and discipline. This exhortation came as primary and secondary schools in the state commenced the 2024/2025 academic session.

Mr. Abayomi Abolaji, the Permanent Secretary in the Lagos State Ministry of Basic Education, delivered this charge while leading a delegation from the ministry on a school inspection tour on Monday. The statement was released by Mr. Ganiu Lawal, the Assistant Director of Public Affairs in the Lagos State Ministry of Education, on Tuesday in Lagos.

All public schools and the majority of private schools in the state resumed their educational activities on Monday.

Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has a steadfast commitment to establishing a legacy of quality education in the state, according to Abolaji. He emphasised that the state government’s numerous initiatives to enhance the quality of teaching and learning would be sustained, with additional infrastructure provided as needed.

Abolaji extended a warm welcome to students and teachers at the outset of the new academic session, underscoring Governor Sanwo-Olu’s deep concern for their welfare.

“Mr. Governor’s desire is to ensure that all students in schools in the state receive a good education in a good environment,” Abolaji stated. “This is evident with over 1,400 education infrastructure projects completed across the state. These projects are evenly distributed across the Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas (LGAs and LCDAs). There is hardly any school that has not benefited from either a new school building, a new classroom block, hostels, security structures, school fencing, toilets, furniture, or boreholes.”
