Rapid Response Squad nabs three suspected vandals in Lagos; recovers stolen parts of 3rd Mainland Bridge

In the Tom Jones vicinity of Lagos State, operatives from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Police Command have apprehended three individuals believed to be involved in vandalism. Alongside the arrests, a minibus, two carts, and sections of bridge railings were successfully recovered.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the command, confirmed the arrests in a statement released on Tuesday in Lagos. At 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, RRS personnel conducted a routine patrol of the area and detained the suspects.

Upon sighting the police, the suspects attempted to escape but abandoned a Suzuki minibus, colloquially known as a ‘Korope,’ with registration number BDG 315 YA. Also discovered at the scene were two carts, bars of aluminium railing suspected to have been illicitly removed from the Third Mainland Bridge, in addition to a hammer and a hand saw.

Hundeyin disclosed that these arrests are in line with a series of similar apprehensions recently made by the RRS under the leadership of CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi. He confirmed that the suspects have already been charged and presented before the court for further legal proceedings.
