Teen Duo Remanded at Borstal Home for Alleged Defilement of 11-Year-Old Neighbour

Two 17-year-olds were placed in the custody of an Abeokuta Borstal home (boys’ remand home) by an Ikeja Chief Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, following disturbing accusations of defiling an 11-year-old girl, their neighbour.

Residing at 2, Oguntolu St., Shomolu, Lagos, the accused teenagers, both students, share the same residence with their parents.

ASP Raji Akeem, the police prosecutor, informed the court that the underage defendants committed the grievous act between April and June within their home premises.

Akeem asserted that the defendants repeatedly subjected their young victim to these heinous acts whenever they got a chance.

Despite alleged threats from the defendants, which included a chilling warning to silence her or face harm, the victim eventually opened up to a female army officer residing nearby.

This reprehensible offence is a violation of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State (2015), according to Akeem’s declaration.

Chief Magistrate Mrs. Bola Osunsanmi presided over the case. She declined to take the plea of the defendants and instead ordered their confinement at the borstal home. The decision remains pending final advice from the Director of Public Prosecution.

The case has been adjourned to September 6 for further proceedings.
