Red Bull Smashes Formula One Record, Max Verstappen Left with Broken Trophy

In an eventful Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday, Red Bull Racing achieved a remarkable feat, securing their 12th consecutive win, breaking McLaren’s 1988 record of 11 successive victories. However, an unexpected mishap occurred amidst the celebrations, leaving Max Verstappen with a broken winner’s trophy.

The double world champion, Max Verstappen, momentarily placed the delicate porcelain trophy down while preparing to spray champagne in jubilation. At this moment, McLaren’s Lando Norris unintentionally sent the trophy tumbling off the top step while opening his champagne bottle. The pink pot smashed as it hit the ground, leading to an amusing yet surprising turn of events.

Sportingly, Norris immediately apologized on McLaren’s Twitter feed, “Sorry Max.” Red Bull responded light-heartedly, stating, “We’re gonna need some glue,” along with a post acknowledging the record broken and the trophy broken, accompanied by a tick and an embarrassed emoji. The banter continued as they humorously added, “We can’t take you anywhere. Glad to have you up there with us though.”

Despite the trophy mishap, Max Verstappen took it in stride, leaving the scene with a smile on his face, clutching the broken trophy under his arm. Post-race, during the press conference, Norris and Verstappen, who share a good friendship, playfully joked about the incident. When asked what happened, Norris bashfully replied amid laughter, “I’m not sure, Max just placed it too close to the edge. It fell over, I guess. Not my problem, it’s his.”

The victory marked Red Bull’s continued dominance in Formula One, with Verstappen securing his seventh win in a row and ninth in 11 races this season. This impressive performance extended his lead in the championship, putting him 110 points ahead of his teammate and third-placed driver, Sergio Perez.
