The Immaculate Heart Catholic Church’s priest-in-charge, Rev. Fr. Pius Yusuf, advised worshippers on Friday to show love to everyone because this was the true meaning of Christmas.
Yusuf, an army chaplain, made this statement during an early-morning mass to celebrate the church’s 37 years of consecration.
He claimed that without the heavenly gift of God’s son to humanity, which represents love, the joy of the Christmas season would have been meaningless.
The Mass was a precursor to the anniversary celebration on Sunday and drew personnel from other formations who had previously been Church members before being assigned elsewhere.
There is no substitute for the gift of love, as demonstrated by the birth of Jesus Christ, according to Yusuf, who spoke at the Mass.
He claimed that if people avoided animosity and showed love to one another, the world would become what God intended for the good of all people.
“The season of advent is the period of love expression to everyone, for Christ came for the sake of everyone, therefore, there should be no discrimination.
“Almsgiving is one of the features of the period, we should remember to bless the less privileged around us with things to make them happy,” he said.
Senior citizen and founder member of the church, Mr. Shedrack Amusa, also spoke at the ceremony and said that regardless of rank, employees interact as family in the worship centre.
