Alumni, parents, stakeholders, and friends of the college are all being asked to fund medical education by the University of Lagos College of Medicine.
The Deputy Provost, Prof. Osaretin Ebuehi, said the event was the third in the series while speaking on the sidelines of a fundraising dinner and award night on Wednesday in Lagos.
In order to help the institution achieve its needs, the deputy provost also appealed to international organisations, the organised private sector, foundations, generous individuals, and well-meaning Nigerians.
He said that the institution had planned a historic occasion, which was actually the $20 million fundraiser dinner and award ceremony for some of the college’s most illustrious alumni.
Ebuehi stated that the institution made the decision to put on the concert in order to raise money for CMUL’s development in the areas of infrastructure, manpower training, research, teaching, and other crucial services.
“Our college is currently 60 years old and there are quite a lot of things we need to do to bring back the past glory of the college.
“Over the years, a lot of research and teaching equipment we use for teaching, providing services have become outdated.
“So, time has come whereby we need resources to get modern equipment which will power high quality research, teaching and training of our students across various departments in the college,” he said.
Posthumous, distinguished guest of honour, excellent leadership, meritorious, and outstanding excellence honours are among the categories covered by the awards.
