On Wednesday, Mr. Wasiu Adesina, Chairman of the Ikorodu Local Government, gave official cars to council members from each of the local wards as well as certain council personnel.
Adesina also gave elderly people and widows 2.5 million naira in cash and food.
Each of the recipients received N10,000 in addition to a food package that included rice, beans, garri, and groundnut oil.
Adesina praised the residents of the local government area for their steadfast support of his administration during the presentation event.
He asked people to back him in order to continue delivering democratic dividends.
According to Adesina, the council members’ and staff’s cars were given to them to make it easier for them to provide the people with effective governance.
“Today 100 widows and elderly will go home with one million naira and one million five hundred naira worth of food items as part of our continuous empowerment programme,” he said.
The Chairman praised Governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the initiatives he had carried out in the state, and specifically in Ikorodu.
In order to give more democratic benefits, he asked locals to support All Progressive Congress (APC) candidates in the upcoming general elections.
He issued a warning to the people of Ikorodu to abstain from all acts of violence in order to celebrate the holiday season in peace and to attract investment.
Speaking about some of his accomplishments since taking office, Adesina stated that his government had paved the road around the market and built a drainage system at Sabo market.
He added that the council’s management employees had also been given office furnishings.
Adesina also mentioned the distribution of 200 personalised school bags filled with 10,000 exercise books to kids, the refurbishment of the council secretariat, the illumination of Sabo Cemetery, and the distribution of GCE and Jamb forms to 100 deserving students in Ikorodu.
In order to improve the operational effectiveness of security services stationed in Ikorodu, he added that his administration had given them patrol cars.
“As you can see, this administration has done a lot, with your support we are still going to do more for our people.
“Our indefatigable Gov. Sanwo-Olu performed excellently and has positioned Lagos State not just as centre of excellence but also the pacesetter in terms of good governance and delivery of dividends of democracy.
“I implore you to vote for our party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. If he emerges, everybody will enjoy”, he said.
The council boss was praised for the generosity by the council secretary, Mr. Lateef Afini, who received an official car as well.
He said that the management and legislative teams will collaborate and help his government in providing Ikorodu’s citizens with good governance.
