The National Institute of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, located in Okota, Isolo, Lagos State, has been approved for second reading by the House of Representatives.
The bill’s passing will make courses in entrepreneurship, innovation, and development studies available to Nigerians in general as well as the residents of Okota and Isolo in Lagos State and its surroundings.
Rep. Ganiyu Johnson (APC-Lagos), the bill’s sponsor, declared during a plenary on Wednesday in Abuja that if approved into law, the legislation will make it easier for people to enhance their skills in entrepreneurship, innovation, and related areas.
He added that because students at the institute would be taught to use their hands to create work for themselves, the measure would go a long way toward addressing the hydra-headed problem of unemployment in Nigeria.
For this reason, the bill was approved by the House Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, without a vote and was sent to the appropriate committee for more legislative input.
