The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has alerted car owners that the Toyota motor manufacturer in China has recalled 14,799 faulty Lexus cars.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Friday, Kazeem said, “FRSC wishes to draw the attention of the motoring public, particularly those who are using Lexus NX260, Lexus NX3650h, and Lexus NX400h+, manufactured between March 31, 2021, and April 26, 2022.
“This is because faulty programming of the Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) System, has been observed, and this has prompted the company to recall the categories of the listed vehicles.
“According to the report contained in a memo forwarded by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the company is also recalling 6,491 Lexus NX260.
“This is because of a defective electric parking brake (EPB) system which was manufactured between April 19, 2021, and July 15, 2022,” he said.
According to Kazeem, the decision to withdraw the cars was specifically based on the concern that they would endanger the users’ safety and cause accidents.
He cited Dauda Biu, the acting Corps marshal, as warning the general public to stop selling, especially to dealers and owners of these types of automobiles.
In order to prevent any accidents, Biu also urged the public not to drive the listed vehicles on Nigerian roads.
