Titilayo Adawi, 73, was killed instantly after being struck by a truck driven by Kazeem Ajibola on Monday on the Lekki-Epe Expressway, according to the Lagos police.
The event was reported on Tuesday by SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Lagos State.
According to Hundeyin, the incident occurred on Monday and was reported at 12:10 p.m. to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the Ilasan Division.
He said that according to the DPO’s report, the woman was reportedly struck by a TATA Lorry with the registration number KRD-165-XZ being operated by Kazeem Ajibola.
According to the PPRO, the tragedy took place at the Salem Bus Stop on the Lekki-Epe Expressway as it headed toward Victoria Island in Lagos.
“As a result of the accident, the victim died on the spot. Based on the report, a team of traffic personnel visited the scene and took photographs of what they saw.
“They evacuated the corpse and deposited it at a public morgue for autopsy.
“Meanwhile, the driver had been arrested and the vehicle towed to the Vehicle Inspection Office for inspection,” he said.
According to Hundeyin, an inquiry into the accident is ongoing.
