A 60-year-old man named Wole Bakare appeared in Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Monday for allegedly stealing N4.3 million from his workplace.
The defendant, a sales advisor, was docked for theft and resides at 8, Ajiboye Crescent, Orile Agege, Lagos.
The offence was committed between July 1 and August at SOHAS S.S. Ventures on Ogba Road, off Oba Akran Avenue, Agege, Lagos, according to the prosecutor, Insp. Felicia Okwori.
According to Okwori, the business is a division of DHL Nigeria Ltd.
When the company’s accounts were reviewed, the defendant, according to Okwori, was reportedly discovered to have taken N4.3 million from the company’s coffers.
The crime, according to the prosecution, was against Section 287 of the Lagos State Criminal Laws of 2015.
But the accused entered a not guilty plea to the accusation.
The defendant was granted bail in the amount of N500,000 with two sureties in the same amount by Magistrate Mr. L.O. Owolabi. The case was postponed until October 28 for mention by Owolabi.
