Tobi Amusan, Others Rewarded By President Muhammadu Buhari

The Nigerian President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari made many Nigerians beam with smiles as he honoured Tobi Amusan and others for placing Nigeria on a global scale of excellence with their notable performance at the just concluded Commonwealth Games held at the Birmingham Alexander Stadium in August 2022.

Recall that the Nigerian born Amusan recently won the 2022 World Athletics Championship 100 metres hurdles gold medal, thereby placing her on top of the chart as the first Nigerian world champion and the African Commonwealth/World champion in the 100m hurdles as well as the record holder in the three competitions.

Amusan who set a new world record of 12.12 seconds in the semifinal, accompanied by a wind-assisted 12.06 seconds in the final to become the world champion was rewarded by President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.

In an award ceremony held at the State House in Abuja, Tobi Amusan, Ebikewenimo Welson, Ese Brume, and other members of the team Nigeria were on Thursday given a National Honours of Officer of the Order of the Niger and a cash reward to the tons of 200 million as approved by His Excellency.

Many Nigerians on social media are appreciating President Buhari for recognizing and acknowledging and rewarding the unflagging determination of Amusan and the entire team in Nigeria.
