Music rapper, Panshak Zamani, aka Ice Prince, accused of allegedly assaulting a police officer in Lagos, has been granted bail after six nights in prison.
Folarin Dalmeida, his lawyer, confirmed that Ice Prince had been released from the Ikoyi correctional facility in Lagos, on Thursday, September 8.
“His bail conditions have been met, and he was released yesterday (Thursday),” he said.
Magistrate T.F. Oyeniyi of Ajah Magistrate Court 1 had set bail conditions for the rapper at N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
His trial was stalled on Wednesday, September 7, following the nonappearance of the prosecution witnesses.
During proceedings at the last sitting of the court, counsel to Ice Prince, Dalmeida, did not make any comment or reference to the absence of the prosecution.
Last Friday, September 2, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, Lagos police spokesman, announced via his official Twitter handle that the music rapper was arrested for allegedly assaulting a police officer.
According to Hundeyin, the “Oleku” singer was stopped by the police for driving without license plates and he allegedly abducted the police officer after agreeing to go to the station.
The case has been adjourned till 24th October.
