‘Let me know if you’re interested,’ Fury tells AJ
Tyson Fury has called out Anthony Joshua for a “battle of Britain” since Oleksandr Usyk is not expected to be able to fight an undisputed heavyweight championship fight with Fury this year
Fury took to social media to challenge Anthony Joshua to a fight for his WBC heavyweight title in what he says would be a ‘Battle of Britain’.
The fighter popularly known as ‘The Gypsy King’ publicly called for a fight with Anthony Joshua, and offered the former champion the chance to box this year.
Talks had begun to match Fury, the WBC titlist, with Oleksandr Usyk, the Ukrainain who beat Joshua last month to defend the unified WBO, WBA and IBF belts, in an undisputed heavyweight championship fight.
But it has emerged that Usyk will not be able to box again this year. It leaves Fury looking for an opponent. He wants that to be Anthony Joshua next.
Anthony Joshua lost his bid to reclaim his world titles from Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk in August in a split decision.
If he accepts to fight Fury it will be another chance at a title fight this year.
But Anthony Joshua has yet to respond to Fury’s challenge.
UPDATE:
Anthony Johnson seems to want a fight with Fury in December 2022 but it is up to a formal contact with his management.
In a tweeted response, he replied to a previous Fury tweet: “Yea calm. I don’t do the online discussions just for clout, so if your really (serious) about it shout @258mgt. I’ll be ready in December. Khalas.”
The next few days should see some increased momentum on the proposed fight.
