Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, on Friday finally responded to his gubernatorial electoral loss by filing a 1,240-page petition at the tribunal sitting at the state high court, Osogbo.
Oyetola who is the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the July 16 election, approached the tribunal to challenge the declaration of Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The petition was jointly signed by Oyetola and the state chairman of the APC, Prince Gboyega Famodun.
The APC had hinted that it would approach the tribunal to challenge the election, saying that the legal team of the party had assured them that they have a good case.
The electoral commission, INEC, had on Sunday, 17 July, formally declared Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the governorship election held in Osun State.
The INEC Chief Returning Officer for Osun, Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, who announced the result said the PDP candidate scored 403,371 votes to emerge victorious.
The runner-up was the incumbent governor, Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 375,027 votes.
