The police on Friday arraigned a trader, Olalekan Oloku, at an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing a bag of stockfish valued at N120,000.
Oloku, 32, appeared on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
He pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, ASP Freddy Asu, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on July 20, about 4.10p.m., at Oyingbo Market, Ebute Meta.
He told the court that the defendant stole a bag of stockfish valued at N120,000 belonging to a complainant, Helen Ogwu.
The offences, he said, contravene Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015(Revised).
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A. Akindele, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
She adjourned the case until September 3, for mention.
