Lagosians have been assured of a good supply of petroleum products at Christmastime.
This is the assurance provided by Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
Giving the assurance in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Zonal Operations Controller, Ayorinde Cardoso, said:
“There is product sufficiency in Lagos with about 341,908,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit and 174,638,000 litres of Automotive Gas Oil in various depots in the state as of today. We are advising marketers against hoarding and creating artificial scarcity of products.”
He said that the NMDPRA would intensify its monitoring and surveillance of petroleum products outlets.
This is to ensure compliance with quality, quantity and safety of operations in line with its regulatory mandate.
Because of this, Cardoso advised consumers to report any infraction such as under-dispensing of products to any NMDPRA’s office in Lagos.
He then advised consumers to observe all necessary safety protocols in the handling of petroleum products especially at this season of harmattan.
Cardoso said the NMDPRA would continue to initiate appropriate initiatives to enable business and create opportunities for investors and stakeholders in the oil and gas industry in Nigeria.
NMDPRA is a merger of three defunct agencies – Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA), Petroleum Equalization Fund {Management} Board (PEFMB), the Midstream and Downstream Divisions of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR).
