Those who had received the first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine and have yet to receive the second dose can now do so.
This is because the Lagos State Government has announced that it will resume the administration of the second dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine from 30th August 2021.

According to a statement signed by the Director, Public Affairs in the state Ministry of Health, Mr Tunbosun Ogunbanwo, the administration of the second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine would hold across the 88 vaccination sites used during the first phase of the vaccination exercise.
The vaccination will be for 20 days, from 30th August to 24th September 2021.
Ogunbanwo stated that only persons who had received the first jab of the vaccine during the first phase of the AstraZeneca vaccination exercise in the state were eligible for the exercise.
The Ministry of Health advised eligible persons to present their vaccination cards between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the vaccination sites to get vaccinated.
Residents are warned against mixing one brand of vaccine with another brand, as it is not allowed.
“The Lagos State Government is working with the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), to ensure that there is no confusion on which vaccines will be given to whom,” the statement read.
The statement assured that the AstraZeneca and Moderna vaccines are safe and effective against severe illness and death from COVID-19 variants including the Delta variant.
Residents have been advised to get all recommended vaccine doses to enhance protection against the virus.
