[Corrigendum] Transparency concerns in Lagos State as audit reports remain unpublished and Auditor-General confirmation lags

In a recent development, we published a story concerning the absence of audit reports from the Lagos State Government since 2019 and the delay in the appointment of an Auditor-General. However, we have since discovered that our initial report contained inaccuracies. The Lagos State Government did, in fact, publish audit reports for the years 2020, 2021, and 2022. The correct details are as follows:

  • The 2020 Audit Report was signed by the then State Auditor General, Mrs. HM Delle, on 23 March 2021.
  • The 2021 Audit Report was signed by the State Auditor General, SA Salami on 22 April 2022.
  • The 2022 Audit Report was signed by Acting State Auditor General, MA Adewuyi on 20 March 2023.

We apologise for any confusion our original story may have caused and for failing to provide accurate information. We take our commitment to journalistic integrity seriously and regret the error.

Following up on our earlier story, we did indeed discover the gross error of fact; hence, this corrigendum. We are committed to enhancing our editorial processes to prevent similar errors in the future.

For accurate and reliable news, please refer to the corrected information above.
