Family seeks justice for murder of Nigerian Breweries controller

The family and friends of Fatai Olukayode Lawal, Brewery Business Controller of Nigerian Breweries, Ibadan, have asked the police in the state capital of Ibadan to investigate his murder.

Sources claim that Lawal, who has been with the company for around 20 years, once held a position that gave him authority over the company’s internal controls and accountability.

On the afternoon of 21 March, Kayode and his friends were en route to the airport along Airport Road.

Two motorcyclists turned on the group. The NB chief was shot in the head and chest by one of the two assailants, who then sped off with an AK-47.

A witness on the road in the Kasko neighbourhood reported that the tragedy occurred so quickly that no one had time to respond.

It took the women in the group several minutes to get help and get him to the hospital. The New Gbagi Division police are rumoured to have swiftly reported the incident to the state CID.

As of the time this report was written, credible sources stated that efforts to solve the case had not been successful.

On the eve of his retirement, the top manager of Bodija Estate, Ibadan, who was reported to be quite affectionate, tragically passed away.
