Traffic on Alaka-Apongbon Eko Bridge to be diverted for 6 months from 5 March

Traffic will be diverted on Eko Bridge for six months starting from March 5, for the commencement of comprehensive repair works at the Alaka-Apongbon stretch.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Frederic Oladeinde, said in a statement on Thursday that the diversion point was on the Apongbon bound lane of the bridge.

He said that the diversion followed notification by Federal Ministry of Works to commence comprehensive repair works on Eko Bridge.

According to him, articulated and heavy duty trucks would be barred from using the bridge due to the nature of the repair works.

Oladeinde added that trucks would, therefore, be diverted to Costain Roundabout to access their desired destinations, while smaller vehicles inbound Apongbon from Alaka would utilise the bridge during the course of the repair works.

He said to further manage traffic, guides would be mounted along the affected routes to help motorists navigate the axis during the construction, adding that the State Traffic Management Authority would be on ground to coordinate movement.

The commissioner commended the citizenry for their understanding and patience amidst various ongoing road projects within the state.

He assured that the end result would be beneficial to the people and the state.(NAN)
