Man docked over alleged burglary, stealing in Lagos

A 24-year-old man, Christian Eze, on Thursday appeared before an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State, charged with breaking into a house and stealing valuables worth N200,000.

Eze, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of burglary and stealing.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the offences.

The prosecutor, Insp Rita Momoh, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Feb. 6 by 2.30 p.m. at No. 10, Olufunmilola St., off Kazeem St., Alapere, Ketu, Lagos.

Momoh said that the defendant broke into the house of one Bola Funsho.

“The defendant also stole an Itel A-33 phone, valued at N22,000 and one power bank valued at N7,000.

“The total value of property stolen is N229,000.

“He was caught during the act and handed over to the Police for prosecution,’’ Momoh said.

She said that the offences contravened sections 307 and 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The Magistrate, Mrs E. Kubeinje, granted the defendant bail of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case till Aug. 8 for mention. (NAN)
